During lockdown, Greater Govanhill editor Rhiannon reported on how some community spaces were supporting those in need by providing food provisions. Three years on, little has changed, except for the increase in the number of people seeking support. 

In our Food Issue, Liam Smillie shadowed the anarchist group Food Not Bombs to learn about how they are tackling the food-waste crisis and seeking to alleviate food poverty.

The independent Queen’s Park Govanhill Parish Foodbank normally provides food parcels on a weekly basis. At the moment they’re opening once a fortnight on a Wednesday for donations and then the following day for collections. Keeping things running is a team of volunteers working alongside local organisations and fuelled by the good will of local people making donations.
